Reasons to Buy the Kosatka Submarine

Ownership of the Kosatka submarine can be extremely lucrative. Here are the opportunities that will be unlocked for you once you become a proud owner:

1. The Cayo Perico Heist

This is, of course, the main purpose of the Kosatka submarine. The Cayo Perico Heist can be completed solo and the payout is GTA$ 1 Million, minimum. Some players get completing this drawn-out heist down to a science so they can grind it out in about an hour. This is considered, hands down, the best way to make money in the game.

2. Daily Hidden Caches

Ok, compared to the Cayo Perico Heist, this is just a little icing on the cake. However, each day it can be completed in under 20 minutes and the total daily payout is $75,000. That's not terrible considering it takes very little focus or skill.

Note that in order to have access to this you'll also need to purchase the Sonar Station for your Kosatka submarine. Learn more about that below in Kosatka Submarine Renovations and Upgrades.

3. Daily Treasure Chests

The Daily Treasure Chests can only be found on Cayo Perico island, which means you need to own the Kosatka submarine before you can even consider collecting them.

There are two per day and each pays out GTA$ 15,000. Nothing to sneeze at!

4. Free BF Weevil Car from Keinemusik Missions

Once you've completed the Cayo Perico Heist at least once you'll unlock these Keinemusik Missions. Once you complete all three of them, you'll receive a free car! Great right?

How to Unlock the Kosatka Submarine

The Kosatka submarine is not just available for purchase for everyone right away. In order to unlock it you'll need to meet with Miguel Madrazo at The Music Locker. Here's how:

1. Head to the Music Locker

The entrance to The Music Locker can be difficult to find for some people, so here’s exactly how to get there:

  • Park in the covered Casino main entrance.
  • Get out of the car and face the Casino doors, then turn to your left.
  • Walk along the sidewalk until you see a pathway split off to the right.
  • Follow that and you’ll find your way to The Music Locker door.

2. Purchase Admission to the Music Locker

Admission to the Music Locker is GTA$ 150. You can get a discount if you wear high end clothing, so go ahead and wear them if you have them. But really, who cares about a measly GTA$ 150?

3. Find and Talk to Miguel Madrazo

The Music Locker is a pretty big club. The quickest way to find Miguel Madrazo is to open the map and find the M icon. Follow that until you reach him, at which point you’ll see a cutscene telling you all about the Cayo Perico Heist, for which you need a sweet submarine.

Once you complete the above steps, the Kosatka submarine will be available for purchase at Warstock Cache & Carry.

Kosatka Submarine Renovations and Upgrades

Purchasing just the Kosatka submarine with no frills will set you back GTA$ 2,200,000, assuming there's no discount from a Weekly Update. However, there are some tempting extras and if you purchased all of them they would bring your total all the way up to GTA$ 9,085,000. Yikes! Read below to find out what's worth the cost and what's a waste.

Color

The default color of the Kosatka submarine is red and black. Color is purely aesthetic and won't have an affect on gameplay, but if looks are something you care about, you can spend GTA$ 75,000 to choose one of the following options:

  • Grey and Black
  • Red and Green
  • Red and Light Blue
  • Dark Blue and Light Blue
  • Red and Tan
  • Bright Red and Light Green
  • All Dark Blue
  • Orange and Light Grey
  • All Green
  • Red and Yellow
  • All Black
  • All Light Blue
  • All Bright Red
  • All Light Green

Flag

Like color, your flag won't have any affect on gameplay. It also doesn't cost any money to choose whichever flag you want!

Sonar Station

The Sonar Station costs GTA$ 1,200,000. The main reason to purchase this is so that you can find the Daily Hidden Caches. This will eventually pay for itself, but it will take a while.

Also, once you own the Sonar Station you'll have access to sonar on two other vehicles, the Toreador and the Kraken Avisa, if you own them.

Guided Missiles

At GTA$ 1,900,000, the Guided Missiles are the priciest add-on. As far as we can tell, you generally won't be using the Kosatka for warfare so the Guided Missiles don't seem worth it.

Weapon Workshop

The Weapon Workshop costs an extra GTA$ 350,000. It's exactly what it sounds like; You can modify weapons there. This is also available as an upgrade to the Mobile Operations Center for just GTA$ 245,000, so if you plan on getting one of those it might be better to purchase the Weapon Workshop there.

Moon Pool Vehicles

There are two Moon Pool Vehicles: The Sparrow, a little helecopter for GTA$ 1,815,000, and the Kraken Avisa, a little submarine for GTA$ 1,545,000. Neither is a necessity but it can be convenient to have instant transportation directly from the submarine. You will acquire a free Dinghy with your Kosatka purchase, but it's a little less glamorous. Your call.

How to Get to Your Kosatka Submarine

Not sure how to get to your new sub? Been there. Follow these steps:

  • Head to the closest coast.
  • Open your (Interaction Menu.
  • Select Servicies > Kosatka > Request Kosatka.
  • Next select Services > Kosatka > Request Dinghy (or Request Vehicle if you've purchased and would like to use one of the Moon Vehicles).
  • Ride your requested vehicle out to the sub.

And there you have it, everything you need to know to make an informed decision when purchasing the Kosatka submarine.
