What Rockstar and Take-Two have said about PC

As of October 20, 2026:

• Rockstar Newswire: "Grand Theft Auto VI is a single player experience, coming November 19 to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S." The Launch Trailer post names the same two platforms.

• The official GTA VI site: the pre-order selector offers exactly PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S and carries a "Plays Best On PlayStation 5" badge. The page does not mention PC, Windows, Steam or Epic.

• Rockstar Store: lists PlayStation 5 and Xbox versions only, with no PC product.

• Take-Two's pipeline table (Q1 fiscal 2027 results, August 7, 2026): the GTA VI row reads "PS5, Xbox Series X|S" and "November 19, 2026". The same table lists PC for other titles, including NBA 2K27 and Judas, and the same release lists PC for GTA Online's summer update. So GTA VI's console-only listing sits in Take-Two's own reporting, not just on a store page.

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has spoken about both sides of this. In an interview published in early May 2026 he explained the console-first approach: "Rockstar always starts on console because I think with regard to a release like that you're judged by serving the core." At Take-Two's annual shareholder meeting in September 2026 he added that "the PC platform is becoming more and more important to our company over time."

GTA 6 PC release date: where things stand

There is no GTA 6 PC release date. Rockstar and Take-Two have not announced a PC version, so there is no date, window or year to report as of October 20, 2026.

The next scheduled official checkpoint is Take-Two's Q2 fiscal 2027 results on Monday, November 9, 2026. Take-Two's results list platforms title by title (the August release lists PC for other games), so PC appearing on the GTA VI row would count as confirmation. Until then, any PC date you see is unofficial. We keep unconfirmed claims separate, in Community speculation.

How long GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 took to reach PC

This is history, not a forecast. GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 both reached PC after their console launches, but how long those took does not tell you anything about GTA 6.

Grand Theft Auto V

• September 17, 2013: launched on consoles.

• June 2014: Rockstar announced it was "coming this fall to PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC".

• September 2014: PS4 and Xbox One dated for November 18, 2014, "with the PC version to follow January 27, 2015".

• January 2015: PC delayed to March 24, 2015 for "a few extra weeks of testing and polish".

• February 2015: PC moved to April 14, 2015 "to make certain that both Heists and the GTA Online experience are ready to roll out on day one for PC".

That works out to about 19 months after the first console release, and about 5 months after the PS4 and Xbox One versions. Rockstar's PC details listed support for "up to 4K resolution", triple-monitor setups, the new Rockstar Editor and GTA Online for "up to 30 players".

Red Dead Redemption 2

• October 26, 2018: released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

• October 4, 2019: PC version announced.

• November 5, 2019: released on PC, about 12 months after consoles.

Two data points make a pattern at best, not a promise. Rockstar has said nothing about whether GTA 6 will follow either one.

GTA 6 PC system requirements

As of October 20, 2026, there are no official GTA 6 PC system requirements. The official GTA VI site, the Rockstar Store and Take-Two's results contain no PC or Windows specs, because no PC version has been announced.

That also answers the "can my GPU run GTA 6" question: there is no official answer yet. Any minimum or recommended spec list you see now, and any "can it run" calculator, is a guess, not Rockstar's numbers. We won't publish estimates or recommend hardware against requirements that don't exist. When Rockstar publishes real requirements, they'll go here.

GTA 6 on Steam and PC price

GTA 6 is not on Steam. As of October 20, 2026, a Steam store search for "Grand Theft Auto VI", "GTA 6" and "Grand Theft Auto 6" returns no GTA VI listing, and the Rockstar Store has no PC version either.

With no PC version announced, there is no PC price and no confirmed PC storefront. Both stay TBC until Rockstar says otherwise.

Which platforms GTA 6 supports: PS4, Xbox One, PS5 Pro and Series S

GTA 6 supports PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S at launch. For the launch date and time, see our GTA 6 release date guide.

• PS4: not supported. Sony states the game "will only be playable on PlayStation 5 consoles. It will not be available for PlayStation 4 consoles."

• PS5 Pro: supported. Sony says the game releases "for PlayStation 5 and PS5 Pro on November 19, 2026" and labels it "PS5 Pro Enhanced".

• Xbox Series X and Series S: both supported. Rockstar and Microsoft list Xbox Series X|S.

• Xbox One: not on Rockstar's or Take-Two's platform lists, and Microsoft's Xbox store page gives the platform as Xbox Series X|S. Neither Rockstar nor Microsoft has put out a separate statement ruling Xbox One out.

• Switch 2: not listed on the official GTA VI site or on Take-Two's GTA VI pipeline row.

What PC players can do in the meantime

• Take-Two's pipeline table lists PC on the GTA VI row; the next results are due November 9, 2026.

Community speculation (unconfirmed)

Nothing in this section is confirmed by Rockstar or Take-Two, so treat it as rumor rather than a release plan.

• An October 2026 industry report citing anonymous sources claims Rockstar is planning a PC version for the first quarter of 2027. Rockstar did not comment on it, and as of October 20, 2026 neither Rockstar nor Take-Two has addressed it publicly.
