GTA 6 Ultimate Edition vs Standard: What You Get

Guide · By · Published

The GTA 6 Ultimate Edition costs $99.99, $20 more than the $79.99 Standard Edition. Both editions launch on November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with no early access for either. That extra $20 buys what Rockstar calls "an exclusive collection of premium vehicles, weapons, apparel, and action threaded across all aspects of Jason and Lucia's story": extra cars and a boat, a garage in Watson Bay, engraved weapons, five Ultimate-only destinations and a gang compound to raid. Ultimate is digital only, and Standard owners can upgrade later.

GTA 6 releases November 19, 2026 (see our GTA 6 release date guide), and we'll fully update this guide on launch day.

The difference is the Ultimate content collection. Both editions release on the same day and share the same pre-order bonus. What the GTA 6 Ultimate Edition includes

Rockstar says the Ultimate content is "threaded across all aspects of Jason and Lucia's story, with new items uncovered behind each chapter". Rockstar says new items unlock chapter by chapter, so expect some to arrive later in the story. If you're still getting to know the leads, our GTA 6 characters guide covers who Jason and Lucia are.

Vehicles and properties

  • '95 Grotti Cheetah: Grotti's signature mid '90s sports car, an ode to Shore Drive, in a "minimalist, retro-futuristic livery". Rockstar says it becomes "available to punctuate later-stage action".

  • '67 Vapid Dominator Buggy and Paradise Garage: a Mud Club monster for the backwoods of Mount Kalaga. It comes with Paradise Garage in Watson Bay, which has a weapon locker and a secure place to stash stolen goods to be fenced.

  • Jason's Safehouse Vehicles: an Army fatigue-tinged Dinka Enduro motorcycle or a Crest Kayak.

  • Ganado Retro Build: exclusive mods that add muscle and classic styling to Jason's well-worn Vapid Ganado low-riding pickup.

  • Shitzu Squalo: a gradient pink and blue boat docked at Washington Beach, with an explosives-laden weapons crate.

  • Classic Car Collection: you will track down abandoned classic and work-in-progress project cars and restore them, as a special commission from Wyman, an eccentric collector and local fixer. Rockstar hasn't said how many cars are in the collection.

Weapons

  • Hawk & Little Morgan Revolvers: his and hers versions of a powerful revolver with classic Vice City styling, sourced from the Vercetti Estate. They have palm-tree-etched grips, engraved detailing and a high-performance scope.

  • Personalized Weapon Variants: sidearms with detailed engravings for Jason's Girardi ES9 pistol and Lucia's Klose K17 pistol.

Places and activities

Five destinations are open for business only with the Ultimate Edition:

  • Rideout Customs: a mod shop with "detailed interiors, exquisite rims, and donk stylings".

  • Sara's Unisex Salon: facial hair for Jason, makeup and nails for Lucia.

  • Stock 305: Stockyard's premier destination for elevated streetwear.

  • Electric Fang Tattoo: over 50 signature tattoos designed by the artist collective FAILE.

  • One-Eyed Willie's: off-road modifications and hand-painted automotive artistry in Lake Leonida.

You will also raid the PTT Youngin$ compound, home of one of Southside Vice City's loudest and most socially active gangs, and escape with special items and distinct contraband. For where these areas sit in Leonida, see our GTA 6 map guide.

Style

  • Vice City Style: exclusive outfits, hairstyles, tattoos and more.

  • Goodtime Gear: a capsule collection of apparel and accessories inspired by Macca the Gator, the character from the Goodtime State's hit TV show.

There is no physical Ultimate Edition. Rockstar states that "a physical version of the Grand Theft Auto VI: Ultimate Edition is not available". Even the boxed Standard Edition has no disc: physical copies "will only contain a download code inside the box", and shipping starts November 12, 2026.

The Rockstar Store sells only the physical Standard Edition and links out to PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store for digital copies. For retailers and pre-order steps, see our GTA 6 pre-order guide.

Upgrading from Standard to Ultimate

Buying Standard doesn't lock you out. Rockstar's wording is that once you own the game you can "upgrade to the Ultimate Edition on PlayStation Store [Microsoft Store] at any time". The upgrade needs the base game.

Store

Ultimate Edition Upgrade price

Microsoft Store (Xbox)

$20.00 / £20.00 / €20.00

PlayStation Store

TBC (only shown to Standard Edition owners)

At current Microsoft Store prices, Standard plus the upgrade adds up to exactly the Ultimate price in all three markets ($79.99 + $20.00 = $99.99). Sony hasn't published the PlayStation upgrade price to anyone who doesn't own Standard yet, so we can't confirm the same holds there.

Physical Standard owners can upgrade too: redeem the download code from the box on your console's store, then buy the Ultimate Edition Upgrade there.

One thing to note: the PlayStation Store says the "Ultimate Edition Upgrade is not eligible for this offer", so buying the upgrade does not by itself earn the pre-order offer.

What both editions get

Whichever edition you pick, these are the same:

  • Vintage Vice City Pack: "All Grand Theft Auto VI pre-orders and purchases before November 20 will get the Vintage Vice City Pack", on Standard and Ultimate alike. It includes the '55 Vapid Stanier and a Shore Court garage near Ocean Beach, Jason's linen suit in vintage pastel, Lucia's red sequin mini dress and curls, and a tropical weapon pattern inspired by Tommy Vercetti's palm tree button-up. On boxed copies, the Rockstar Store marks the pack as while supplies last.

  • One month of GTA+: included with digital pre-orders of either edition from PlayStation Store or Microsoft Store. Both stores also count digital purchases made by November 19 (launch day). Only the claim window differs: by March 31, 2027 on PlayStation, within 180 days on Xbox.

  • Preload: digital pre-orders and boxed codes can preload from November 12.

  • Launch day: no early access on either edition. Both unlock November 19, 2026.

Our GTA 6 pre-order guide has the full bonus breakdown and where to buy.

Is the Ultimate Edition worth it?

Is the GTA 6 Ultimate Edition worth it for you? We can't judge how the extras play until launch, but four facts decide most cases:

  • Buy Ultimate if you're buying digitally and want the full set (the Cheetah, the Squalo, the Classic Car Collection, the revolvers, five extra destinations, the compound raid and the style packs) unlocking as the story moves, without a second purchase later.

  • Buy Standard if you want a boxed copy. Ultimate has no physical version, and the box holds a code anyway. You can still upgrade later.

  • Buy Standard and decide later if you're unsure. The upgrade is available "at any time", and on Xbox it currently costs exactly the $20 gap. On PlayStation the upgrade price is TBC until Standard owners can see it.

  • Don't buy Ultimate for a head start. There's no early access, and the pre-order bonus and GTA+ month come with both editions.

Premium, Deluxe and Collector's editions: what actually exists

GTA 6 has exactly two editions: Standard and Ultimate. There is no Premium or Deluxe edition of the game, and Rockstar, PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store list only those two (plus the Ultimate Edition Upgrade).

There is a collector's item, but it isn't an edition of the game. The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection costs $399.99 on the Rockstar Store, and Rockstar notes "Grand Theft Auto VI game sold separately". It's merchandise, so you still need to buy Standard or Ultimate to play.
