GTA 6 Editions and Prices

Rockstar is selling exactly two editions of GTA 6, and both target PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S:

The Standard Edition is the full game. The Ultimate Edition adds a large bundle of exclusive vehicles, properties, weapons, and Vice City style content on top (full breakdown below), and it exists only as a digital purchase: there is no Ultimate box at retail.

Rockstar has not announced a Collector's Edition: the two editions above are everything on sale right now, so treat any listing that suggests otherwise with suspicion. If you buy Standard now and change your mind, Rockstar has confirmed a separate Ultimate Edition Upgrade you can buy at any time, though its price has not been announced yet.

Where to Preorder GTA 6

Digital preorders run through the PlayStation Store and the Microsoft Store, and both editions are available digitally.

Physical preorders cover the Standard Edition only, since the Ultimate Edition has no boxed version. Rockstar points physical buyers to "select retailers", and in the US that means Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy, Target, and GameStop.

Two things to weigh before picking a lane. First, the free month of GTA+ only comes with digital preorders, not boxed copies. Second, the physical box contains a download code rather than a disc, so the traditional trade-in and resale advantages of physical do not apply here. Details on both below.

Vintage Vice City Pack (Preorder Bonus)

The Vintage Vice City Pack is the universal preorder bonus. It comes with all preorders and with all digital purchases made before November 20, so even a launch-day digital buy qualifies. Physical preorders include it while stocks last.

Here is what the pack contains, all of which you will unlock in-game after launch:

• '55 Vapid Stanier: a vintage ride for cruising Vice City.

• Shore Court Garage: a garage near Ocean Beach with a weapon locker and a deposit point for offloading stolen goods to the local Fence.

• Vintage outfits and hairstyles for both protagonists: a pastel linen suit for Jason and a red sequin mini dress with curls for Lucia.

• Tropical weapon pattern: a palm-tree finish for most guns, a nod to Tommy Vercetti's shirt.

What the Ultimate Edition Adds

The $20 jump from Standard to Ultimate buys a substantial content bundle. Rockstar has confirmed the extras are threaded through Jason and Lucia's story, so you will uncover new items chapter by chapter rather than getting everything dumped in your garage on day one.

The confirmed Ultimate Edition contents:

• '67 Vapid Dominator Buggy plus the Paradise Garage in Watson Bay.

• '95 Grotti Cheetah.

• Jason's safehouse vehicles: a Dinka Enduro and Crest Kayak, or a Vapid Ganado retro build with exclusive mods.

• Two exclusive mod shops: Rideout Customs in Vice City and One-Eyed Willie's in Lake Leonida.

• Classic Car Collection: a commission from Wyman that includes four Ultimate-only vehicles.

• Shitzu Squalo boat.

• Hawk & Little Morgan Revolvers: his-and-hers revolvers sourced from the Vercetti Estate, appearing at Ammu-Nation stores as the story progresses.

• Personalized pistol variants of the Girardi ES9 and Klose K17.

• PTT Youngin$ compound raid and its scores.

• Exclusive Vice City styles: outfits and tattoos, plus Goodtime Gear apparel, the Stock 305 clothing store, Sara's Unisex Salon, and Electric Fang Tattoo with 50+ designs by FAILE.

If you start with Standard, the Ultimate Edition Upgrade is purchasable separately at any time. Its price is TBC: Rockstar has not announced a figure, so treat any number you see elsewhere as a guess. Physical Standard owners buy the upgrade on the PlayStation or Xbox store after redeeming their code.

Free Month of GTA+ (Digital Preorders)

Preorder either edition digitally on the PlayStation Store or Microsoft Store and you get one free month of GTA+, Rockstar's subscription for the current GTA Online. Physical preorders do not qualify.

The month is redeemable immediately when you preorder, and it has to be redeemed before its expiry date, so do not sit on it. One caution: the subscription auto-renews at the regular price once the free month ends, so cancel in time if you only want the freebie.

Since the benefit applies to today's GTA Online rather than GTA 6, it pairs nicely with whatever is going on in the current rotation; our GTA Online weekly updates page tracks that week to week.

Physical Copies: Code in the Box, No Disc

The boxed version of GTA 6 does not contain a disc. Inside is a one-time-use download code you redeem on the PlayStation Store or Xbox, after which the game downloads like any digital purchase. Because the code dies once redeemed, a used box cannot be traded in or resold. If trade-in value is why you usually buy physical, that reason is gone here.

Physical copies are expected to be available for shipping and pickup from retailers starting November 12, a week before launch, so you can redeem your code and preload before release day.

And to close a persistent rumor: Rockstar has said it has no plans for a disc version, at launch or later. Reports that a disc edition would arrive months after launch stemmed from a misread Rockstar support email, and Rockstar explicitly debunked them.

Release Date and Preload

GTA 6 launches on Thursday, November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Preload for digital preorders begins November 12, 2026, giving you a full week to download. Physical buyers follow close behind: boxes become available for shipping and pickup from November 12, and preload starts once the code inside your box arrives and is redeemed.

There is no early access of any kind. Preordering gets you the bonuses and the preload window, not a head start: nobody plays before November 19.

The date has moved twice, which is worth knowing if you are nervous about committing. The game was originally set for a 2025 window, shifted to May 26, 2026 in an announcement made in May 2025, then landed on November 19, 2026 in early November 2025. Preorders opening in June 2026 came after that final date was set.
