GTA 6 Preload Starts November 10: Up to 212 GB
Follow @gtabossgg on X for weekly updates and guides.
Follow on XRockstar confirmed on November 3 that the GTA 6 pre-load begins Tuesday, November 10 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. That gives you nine days to get the game downloaded before it launches on November 19, and you'll want the room: the pre-load needs up to 212 GB depending on your device.
There's still time to pre-order if you haven't, and our GTA 6 pre-order guide covers the editions and pre-order details. For the full launch timeline, see our GTA 6 release date guide.

When the GTA 6 pre-load starts in your time zone
PS5 and Xbox handle the start time differently, so check which one applies to you:
Platform | Pre-load starts |
|---|---|
PS5 (digital) | Tuesday, November 10 at midnight, your local time |
Xbox Series X|S | Tuesday, November 10 at 12 a.m. GMT, at the same moment worldwide |
On PS5, the download unlocks as your own clock hits midnight. Xbox is a single global start, which means US Xbox players can start the GTA 6 pre-load on Monday evening: 7 p.m. ET or 4 p.m. PT on November 9.
GTA 6 file size: clear up to 212 GB
Rockstar says the pre-load file requires up to 212 GB, with the exact size depending on your device. Free up that much space before November 10 so you're ready the moment it unlocks.
For step-by-step help starting the pre-load on your console, Rockstar Support has a how-to page with the details.
Boxed copies and the November 12 date
When pre-orders opened, Rockstar pointed to November 12 for digital pre-loading. The new announcement moves the digital pre-load two days earlier, to November 10.
November 12 is still the date Rockstar gives for code-in-box versions for both consoles: they should be available from retailers beginning November 12, so that's the earliest you can expect a boxed copy in hand.
Free GTA 6 poster and Leonida map on launch day
On November 19, Rockstar will add an official printable GTA VI cover art poster and a map of Leonida as a free digital download on the official site.
A double-sided physical version of the poster comes to the Rockstar Store shortly after launch. It costs $0.99 on its own, or it's free with any Rockstar Store purchase.
