Trailer 2: the biggest video launch of all time

Rockstar released GTA 6 Trailer 2 on May 6, 2025, with all footage captured on PlayStation 5. At 2 minutes 47 seconds, it is the longer of the two trailers, and it digs deeper into Jason and Lucia's relationship while showing much more of the state of Leonida. For every region and location Rockstar has officially named, see our GTA 6 map guide.

The numbers were enormous. Rockstar says Trailer 2 pulled in more than 475 million views across all platforms in its first 24 hours, which the studio called "the biggest video launch of all time." That beat the Deadpool & Wolverine trailer's 365 million and the Fantastic Four: First Steps trailer's 200 million.

One important scope note: that 475 million is an all-platforms figure, not a YouTube figure. On YouTube itself, Trailer 2 did about 83.6 million views in 24 hours, with roughly 106 million more on Twitter/X and the rest spread across other social platforms. Keep that in mind before comparing it directly against Trailer 1's YouTube-only record below.

Trailer 1: the first look at Vice City

GTA 6 Trailer 1 arrived on December 4, 2023 as a YouTube exclusive. Running 1 minute 31 seconds, it gave the world its first look at the game: modern-day Vice City, the wider state of Leonida, and the two protagonists we now know as Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos.

It broke records immediately. Trailer 1 racked up more than 93 million views on YouTube in its first 24 hours, a YouTube record for a non-music-video debut and a Guinness World Record for the most-viewed videogame trailer in 24 hours. The previous benchmark it beat belonged to MrBeast, at 59.4 million.

Note the scope here too: 93 million is a YouTube-only figure, because the trailer only existed on YouTube. Trailer 2's 475 million counts every platform, so the two numbers measure different things. On YouTube alone, Trailer 1's 24-hour debut actually remains ahead of Trailer 2's roughly 83.6 million.

Will There Be a GTA 6 Trailer 3?

The honest answer: Rockstar has not announced a third trailer. There is no confirmed GTA 6 Trailer 3 release date, and no official window either. Community and analyst timing guesses do exist, and we cover them in the speculation section just below.

In the meantime, if the first two trailers already sold you on the game, preorders are open: see our GTA 6 preorder guide for every edition and price.

Community speculation (unconfirmed)

Nothing in this section is confirmed by Rockstar; treat it all as informed guessing. Analysts and the community expect Trailer 3 to land around late July or early August 2026, based on Rockstar's past trailer cadence, with Forbes' Brian Mazique having written the most-cited cadence analysis. The community also expects it to be story-heavy, showing more of Jason and Lucia. Until Rockstar says otherwise, none of this is a date you can plan around.
