All 8 Halloween Slasher Zones in GTA Online (2026)
All 8 GTA Online Slasher zones for Halloween 2026, one numbered pin per zone on our interactive map, with the spawn conditions for the Clown, Psycho, Driver and Sack Slasher and your own Clone Slasher. This is the free-roam Halloween event, where killers hunt you in Freemode at night: not the Slasher Adversary mode, and not the year-round Los Santos Slasher clue hunt.

A slasher can only come for you when you are in free roam, outdoors (not inside any building), on foot or in a normal vehicle, and inside one of the eight zones on this page. Aircraft, boats, weaponized vehicles and special vehicles all block the spawn. It has to be late at night in-game, from 1 AM; the end of the window is reported as either 5 AM or 6 AM, so treat 1 AM to 5 AM in-game as the safe hours. You also need to have been in the session for at least 16 real minutes, which is 8 in-game hours, and once a slasher spawns for you there is a 15-minute cooldown before your next one. Rockstar itself only says the slashers come out after dark; the detailed conditions come from community datamining and player testing.
Only one slasher can be active in a session at a time, and the game picks its target from the players who meet the conditions, so a solo or invite-only session is the reliable way to farm them; a full public lobby lowers your odds. Each numbered pin on our map marks the centre of a zone and the shaded circle around it is the zone itself. The slasher does not appear at the pin: once you qualify, it spawns a short way behind you, wherever you happen to be inside the circle. You will hear a short ominous sting, your minimap flashes, and a red dot marks the killer. It stands still at first and starts chasing once you get close.
Any of these eight zones can hand you the Clone Slasher instead of the regular killer, with a reported 50% chance per spawn. The Clone is a bruised, blood-stained copy of your own character. It only moves when you move, and it turns hostile once you get near it or attack it. Players report it carrying a mix of melee weapons, including a baseball bat, battle axe, flashlight, knife, knuckle dusters or machete, so expect anything. It has no zones of its own, which is why there are no Clone pins on the map.
All five share the same rules. They have a massive health pool and shrug off multiple explosions, they cannot be ragdolled but can be stunned, and they keep coming until one of you dies. A slasher despawns if it cannot reach you, if you leave the area or if another random event starts, and players report it fading away exactly 5 minutes into the encounter, so finish the fight fast or just let the clock run out. Spawns repeat: after the 15-minute cooldown you can get another, and players in unshared sessions report roughly one slasher per in-game day, which is 48 real minutes.
The pin numbers restart for each slasher: Clown Slasher 1, Psycho Slasher 1 to 4, Driver Slasher 1 and 2, and Sack Slasher 1, so the number tells you which of that killer's zones you are looking at. Each card below shows the pin number and the GTA V area at the zone's centre, such as Strawberry; click through for the exact zone, or use the button above to open all 8 zones at once.

2026 event window and rewards
The free-roam slashers are a returning Halloween event. Rockstar's 2026 Newswire promises a month of "vengeful Slashers roaming the streets" and names the uncanny Clone Slasher and the driverless Phantom Car among its Returning Halloween Haunts, a block that runs from Oct 1, 2026 through Nov 4, 2026. That is a more generous window than 2024, when the free-roam slashers were only switched on in the third week of the event.
Rockstar says there are "rewards for those brave enough to battle the creatures of the night" without naming any, and none of the five 2026 Weekly Challenges involves a slasher, so there is no confirmed cash, RP or unlock for killing one this year. Past years were different: in 2024, killing your Clone Slasher completed that week's Weekly Challenge for the Black Creepy Cat Mask and GTA$100,000, and in 2021 a self-defence kill earned the Twilight Knife T-Shirt. In 2026 that T-shirt is simply a free login gift for Oct 8 to Oct 14, unrelated to slashers. We will update this section if a later Newswire adds a slasher challenge.
Two other "Slasher" items in the same Newswire are not this event. The 3X GTA$ and RP bonus on Slasher modes applies to the Slasher Adversary modes in the Featured Series, instanced jobs where one shotgun-wielding player hunts survivors armed only with flashlights. And the Slasher Clown Outfit is the reward for the Oct 29 to Nov 4 Weekly Challenge, which asks you to complete 10 waves of a Survival without dying for the outfit and GTA$250,000; it has nothing to do with the Clown slasher roaming Los Santos.
Halloween Slashers FAQ
Where do slashers spawn in GTA Online?
In eight free-roam zones: one huge Clown zone over Los Santos centred on Strawberry, four Psycho zones in Tongva Hills, Great Chaparral and Vinewood Hills, two small Driver zones at Maze Bank Arena and the Redwood Lights Track, and one huge Sack Slasher zone around Paleto Bay covering most of northern Blaine County. You have to be inside a zone; the slasher then spawns near you, not at a fixed spot.
What time do slashers spawn in GTA Online?
Late at night in-game, from 1 AM. Rockstar only says "after dark"; community testing puts the window at roughly 1 AM to 5 AM in-game, with some players reporting spawns as late as 6 AM. You also need at least 16 real minutes (8 in-game hours) in the session before the first one can appear.
How do you get the Clone Slasher?
You cannot choose it. In any of the eight zones, a spawn has a reported 50% chance of being your Clone instead of the regular slasher, so meet the normal conditions, stay inside a zone late at night and keep trying; some players report several Clones in a row. There is no confirmed 2026 payout for killing it. In 2024 it completed that week's Weekly Challenge for the Black Creepy Cat Mask and GTA$100,000.
What do you get for killing a slasher in 2026?
Nothing confirmed. Rockstar mentions "rewards" for battling the creatures of the night but names none, and no 2026 Weekly Challenge involves a slasher. Past rewards, the 2021 Twilight Knife T-Shirt and the 2024 Black Creepy Cat Mask with GTA$100,000, were one-week challenges that are not running this year. The 3X Slasher bonus and the Slasher Clown Outfit belong to the Adversary mode and a Survival challenge, not to these killers.
Are the slashers back in GTA Online in 2026?
Yes. Rockstar's Returning Halloween Haunts block runs from Oct 1 through Nov 4, 2026 and names the Clone Slasher as a returning haunt, and the Newswire's opening blurb promises "vengeful Slashers roaming the streets". The slashers debuted in 2021, the Clone Slasher joined them in 2022, and they have returned for later Halloween events, including 2024 and 2026.
Is this the same as the Slasher Adversary mode or the Los Santos Slasher?
No. Slasher and Slashers are Adversary modes you launch from the Featured Series or the Pause Menu, and the Halloween Newswire's 3X GTA$ and RP bonus applies to the Slasher modes in the Featured Series, including the Ramius submarine version. The Los Santos Slasher is a permanent clue hunt added with the Diamond Casino Heist update and available all year. This page covers the free-roam Halloween slashers that hunt you in Freemode at night.
