Everything you need to know about the Methamphetamine Lab in GTA V Online
The Methamphetamine Lab is the second-best MC business in GTA Online, behind only the Cocaine Lockup. Fully upgraded, a full batch sells for GTA$ 446,250 to the furthest buyer, roughly GTA$ 258,750 net if you buy supplies, or around GTA$ 43,125 per hour while it runs.
Production is passive: stock cooks in the background while you play. Selling is not, and that is where most players lose money, because a full 20-bin batch usually spawns three or more delivery vehicles that a solo player cannot cover in time. This guide covers the best location, which upgrades actually pay, the real payout numbers, and the exact stock cutoff that keeps solo sales safe. For location prices and payout data at a glance, see the Meth Labs hub.

What you need before buying a Methamphetamine Lab
The Meth Lab is one of the five MC production businesses added in the Bikers update back in 2016. Before you can buy one, you need a clubhouse and you need to be registered as an MC President; our Motorcycle Clubhouse guide covers picking a cheap one. Once that box is ticked, the lab shows up on the Open Road network in your clubhouse.
Rockstar clearly had fun with this one: the interior and equipment are modelled on Breaking Bad's Superlab, right down to the blue "Blue Sky" product cooking in the vats.
Of the five MC businesses (Cocaine, Meth, Counterfeit Cash, Weed, Document Forgery), meth is the second-most profitable. If you are buying your first, start with the Cocaine Lockup; meth is the natural second purchase, with the Counterfeit Cash Factory close behind.
The best Methamphetamine Lab location
All four Meth Lab interiors are identical, so you are only paying for the address. Check each spot on the interactive map before you buy.
Location | Price | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Grand Senora Desert | GTA$ 910,000 | Cheapest, central, near the other MC businesses |
Paleto Bay | GTA$ 1,024,800 | Far north, long drives to Los Santos buyers |
Terminal | GTA$ 1,365,000 | City location, pricier for no extra output |
El Burro Heights | GTA$ 1,729,000 | Most expensive, same lab inside |
Buy Grand Senora Desert. It is the cheapest by over GTA$ 100,000, it sits in the central desert near the other MC businesses, and a cheap clubhouse is right around the corner. The pricier locations buy you nothing but a different front door.
Setting up your Methamphetamine Lab
After buying the lab, you get a one-time setup mission: steal a truck loaded with supplies and drive it back. Run it in an invite-only session so nobody can blow up your cargo, and production starts as soon as you park.
From then on, the lab only needs supplies. You have two options:
Buy them. Supplies cost GTA$ 15,000 per unit, and 5 units fill one supply bar for GTA$ 75,000. With the Equipment upgrade installed, which you will want anyway, supplies stretch about twice as far, so a full 20-bin batch runs around GTA$ 187,500 in bought supplies; without Equipment the same batch costs roughly double. Either way you can order from the laptop and go do something else.
Steal them. Steal missions fill the bars for free, which is a real saving of roughly GTA$ 187,500 per batch. The catch is time: each run takes several minutes of active play, so stealing costs you playtime instead of cash.
If your hourly earning elsewhere beats the supply bill, buy. If you are cash-poor and time-rich, steal.
Methamphetamine Lab upgrades
The lab holds 20 bins and fills in around 10 hours with no upgrades, or around 6 hours fully upgraded. Three upgrades are on offer:
Upgrade | Cost | What it does |
|---|---|---|
Equipment | GTA$ 1,100,000 | Speeds production, boosts product value, and makes supplies last about twice as long |
Staff | GTA$ 331,500 | Faster production and more product value |
Security | GTA$ 513,000 | Fewer raids and thefts, no effect on income |
Buy Equipment and Staff before you sell a single bin: together they lift a full far-buyer batch from GTA$ 344,250 to GTA$ 446,250 and cut the fill time by about four hours. Equipment matters most: on top of the value bump it makes your supplies stretch about twice as far, which roughly halves what a full batch costs to stock. Security is optional. It does nothing for your payout, and if you play in invite-only sessions and do not hoard stock, raids are rarely a problem. Skip it, or grab it later once the lab has paid for itself.
Payouts and max profit
Always sell to the furthest buyer: deliveries to the region your lab is not in pay +50% over a local sale, and the values below show both.
Setup | Local sale | Furthest buyer | Time to fill |
|---|---|---|---|
No upgrades | GTA$ 229,500 | GTA$ 344,250 | about 10 hours |
Equipment + Staff | GTA$ 297,500 | GTA$ 446,250 | about 6 hours |
The net math on a full upgraded batch: GTA$ 446,250 minus roughly GTA$ 187,500 in bought supplies leaves about GTA$ 258,750 profit. Steal your supplies and you keep the full GTA$ 446,250.
That works out to roughly GTA$ 43,125 per hour of production, second of the five MC businesses. Only the Cocaine Lockup beats it, at around GTA$ 67,500 per hour; Counterfeit Cash, Weed, and Document Forgery all trail behind.
Selling your meth solo
Here is the part the game never explains, and the answer to how to sell meth solo in GTA Online without losing product: the number of delivery vehicles is driven by how much stock you sell. At 5 bins or fewer (a quarter of the 20-bin capacity), you always get one vehicle. At 6 to 8 bins you get one or two, at 9 to 10 you get two, and from 11 bins up to a full batch you are looking at three or more vehicles, which a solo player usually cannot cover before the timer runs out.
So the solo play is simple: sell small and often, at 5 bins or fewer, to the furthest buyer, every time. You get 30 minutes on the sale clock, extended to 45 minutes when you launch solo, and one vehicle is comfortable inside that window.
One more warning: about a minute after you enter a sell vehicle, the game broadcasts your sale to every rival in the session. Selling in an invite-only session removes that risk entirely.
Here is what the sell missions can throw at you:
Bikes: 1 to 4 Baggers with product in the saddlebags
Boats: 1 to 3 Dinghies making coastal drops
Sea Planes: 1 to 3 Dodos dropping packages from the air
Trash Trucks: 1 to 3 Trashmasters on a city route
Single Vehicle: one truck (a Rat-Truck, Gang Burrito, or Pounder depending on quantity)
On most of those variants the vehicle count follows your stock, but the Single Vehicle roll is the exception: it is always one truck no matter how much you are hauling. You cannot count on rolling it, though, which is why selling at 5 bins or fewer is the only way to guarantee one vehicle on any mission type.
If you would rather not run sell missions at all, the lab still earns. A Nightclub technician assigned to Pharmaceutical Research accrues meth passively at around GTA$ 11,475 per hour fully upgraded, the second most valuable technician assignment behind Cocaine's South American Imports at roughly GTA$ 13,500 per hour. The Arcade's Master Control Terminal also lets you resupply and manage every business from one desk. Our passive income guide covers how to stack these setups.
Is the Methamphetamine Lab worth it?
Yes, with honest expectations. At Grand Senora Desert with both upgrades, you are in for GTA$ 2,341,500, and the lab returns roughly GTA$ 43,125 per hour, second-best of the five MC businesses.
Be realistic about the sell missions, though. Outside a 2X sell-bonus week, running meth deliveries is not the best active money in the game: the Cayo Perico Heist and the Cocaine Lockup both edge it out for hands-on-controller time. The real reasons to own a Meth Lab are the quieter ones: it unlocks the Nightclub's Pharmaceutical Research assignment (around GTA$ 11,475 per hour, fully passive), and when Rockstar runs a 2X week on MC businesses, that GTA$ 446,250 batch roughly doubles.
Buying supplies, the setup pays for itself in around 54 hours of play. Steal your supplies, or just let the Nightclub technician grind it in the background, and it recoups noticeably faster.
Methamphetamine Lab FAQ
Is the Meth Lab worth buying in GTA Online?
Yes, it is the second-most-profitable MC business at around GTA$ 43,125 per hour fully upgraded. Its biggest long-term value is feeding the Nightclub's Pharmaceutical Research assignment and cashing in during 2X sell weeks.
How much does a full batch of meth sell for?
A full 20-bin batch sells for GTA$ 446,250 to the furthest buyer with Equipment and Staff upgrades (GTA$ 344,250 without them). After roughly GTA$ 187,500 in bought supplies, that is about GTA$ 258,750 net, or the full amount if you stole your supplies.
How do I sell meth solo without losing product?
Sell at 5 bins or fewer: that guarantees a single delivery vehicle on every mission type. You also get an extended 45-minute timer when you launch the sale solo, and an invite-only session keeps rival players away entirely.
What is the best Meth Lab location?
Grand Senora Desert at GTA$ 910,000. All four interiors are identical, and it is the cheapest location, sits centrally in the desert near the other MC businesses, and has a cheap clubhouse nearby.
How long does the Meth Lab take to fill?
Around 10 hours with no upgrades, or around 6 hours with the Equipment and Staff upgrades. That is 20 bins of stock either way; the upgrades also raise what the batch is worth.
Is the Meth Lab better than the Cocaine Lockup?
No. Cocaine earns around GTA$ 67,500 per hour to meth's GTA$ 43,125, so buy the Cocaine Lockup first. Meth is the clear second pick and pairs well with it, especially once both feed your Nightclub.
