Everything you need to know about the Counterfeit Cash Factory in GTA V Online

Guide · Published

The Counterfeit Cash Factory is one of the businesses you can purchase through a Motorcycle Club. And it's one of the three that's actually worth it, along with the Cocaine Lockup and the Methamphetamine Lab.

Like the other MC Club businesses as well as the Bunker, the Counterfeit Cash Factory is not quite completely passive income. You do passively accumulate product over time, but the actual profit only lands once you complete Sell Missions.

Read on to learn everything you need to know about the Counterfeit Cash Factory in GTA Online: the best location, which upgrades to buy, what a full batch really sells for, and how to run it alongside your other businesses.

GTA V Online Counterfeit Cash Factory Best Location

As with all GTA Online businesses, the only things that really make one location better than another are price and convenience. The businesses themselves are exactly the same no matter the location.

Here are all the Counterfeit Cash Factory locations and their prices in GTA Online (tap a name to see it on our interactive map):

Our pick for the best Counterfeit Cash Factory location is simply the cheapest one: Grand Senora Desert. It has a convenience factor as well. If you plan to also purchase the Cocaine Lockup and the Methamphetamine Lab, the Grand Senora Desert factory sits close to both of them, as well as the cheapest Motorcycle Clubhouse location. That means you can run your sell missions back to back without driving all over San Andreas. Add a nearby Bunker and you're set for some seriously profitable bulk sell sessions.

You'll find full price, upgrade, and payout details on our Counterfeit Cash Factory business page. All four locations go on sale regularly, so it's worth checking the current business discounts before you buy.

How To Set Up A Counterfeit Cash Factory Business in GTA V Online

For each of the MC Club businesses you'll need to complete an initial setup mission.

For the Counterfeit Cash Factory, that means stealing a Stockade and bringing it back to the factory. It's an easy one, but if you're not sure what to do, follow these steps:

  • Once you purchase the business, drive to it and go inside.

  • Access the laptop and select Set Up.

  • Drive to the marked location and get in the Stockade.

  • In a public session you'll become visible to other players, who may try to destroy or steal the truck. Start the setup in an invite-only session if you'd rather skip that risk.

  • Deliver the Stockade back to your Counterfeit Cash Factory to complete the mission.

Nice bonus: the setup Stockade comes fully loaded, so completing the mission fills all five supply bars for free and production starts right away. Even so, hold off on serious grinding. This business really only becomes worthwhile once you've made a few upgrades.

GTA V Online Counterfeit Cash Factory Upgrades

Once you've completed the setup mission, head back to the laptop inside your factory to buy your Counterfeit Cash Factory upgrades. Here are the options and prices:

  • Equipment Upgrade (GTA$ 880,000): speeds up production, increases product value, and makes supplies last longer.

  • Staff Upgrade (GTA$ 273,000): speeds up production and increases product value.

  • Security Upgrade (GTA$ 456,000): doubles the time it takes for a raid to trigger.

We highly recommend buying both the Equipment and Staff Upgrades as soon as possible. Together they lift a full batch from GTA$ 189,000 to GTA$ 245,000 on a local sale and cut the production time from 8 hours to 5 hours 20 minutes.

The Security Upgrade is skippable for most players, because raids are easy to avoid entirely (see the raid rules below). The exception is mansion owners: since A Safehouse in the Hills (December 2025), pairing the Security Upgrade with your mansion's militia security makes the business completely raid-proof.

Reaching the upgraded row costs Equipment GTA$ 880,000 + Staff GTA$ 273,000 (GTA$ 1,153,000 total); the Security upgrade (GTA$ 456,000) has no effect on income. Net assumes bought supplies and the furthest buyer; without the Equipment upgrade a bought-supply batch runs at a small loss, so steal supplies or upgrade first. A sale event or full-lobby High Demand pays more.

The grid above shows how the payout changes when you change different variables of your business. Here are the real Counterfeit Cash Factory max payout numbers since the April 2022 sell-value buff:

  • A fully upgraded factory holds 40 stacks of cash worth GTA$ 6,125 each.

  • A full batch sells for GTA$ 245,000 locally, or GTA$ 367,500 selling to the furthest buyer (+50%).

  • Without upgrades, a full batch is worth GTA$ 189,000 to GTA$ 283,500.

  • Supplies cost GTA$ 15,000 per unit (GTA$ 75,000 for a full bar). An upgraded batch consumes two bars, so GTA$ 150,000 in total; without the Equipment Upgrade supplies stretch half as far, so a full base batch costs about GTA$ 300,000 and runs at a small loss on bought supplies.

  • Selling in a busier public lobby adds a High Demand bonus of 2% per other player in the session.

For the absolute maximum you'd take the Equipment and Staff Upgrades, sell to the furthest buyer, and steal your supplies. For maximum value for your time, though, don't steal. Steal missions are slow, and the GTA$ 150,000 you save is earned faster with a quick Sightseer or Headhunter run before buying supplies from the laptop.

One more modern multiplier: if you own the Hands On Car Wash from the Money Fronts update, linking it to your factory adds 35% to counterfeit cash sell values, pushing a full furthest-buyer sale to roughly GTA$ 496,000. See all of our covered businesses on the businesses hub.

How to Run a Counterfeit Cash Factory In GTA Online

In case it's not clear, here's how all MC Club businesses, as well as the Bunker, work:

  • Get supplies (by buying or stealing)

  • Wait for product to be made

  • Sell product

  • Repeat

Some people call this passive income because the product creation part is passive. (For genuinely hands-off options, check out How to Get Completely Passive Income in GTA V Online.)

Most people start a gaming session by making sure their supplies are maxed out, then go do whatever they feel like, be it the Cayo Perico Heist or gathering Daily Collectibles, while the factory ticks away.

A fully upgraded factory takes 5 hours 20 minutes to fill (8 minutes per stack); without upgrades it's a full 8 hours. If you own a mansion from A Safehouse in the Hills, its 3x production speed boost cuts a full batch to about 1 hour 47 minutes.

Two quality-of-life changes arrived with The Criminal Enterprises (July 2022), after this guide was first written:

  • Resupplying and selling now work in invite-only sessions, so you never have to expose a sale to a public lobby.

  • Product accrues even while you're not registered as an MC President. You only need to register to buy supplies or launch a sale.

That second point also covers raids: they can only trigger while you're registered as an MC President, roaming outside, with at least one bar of stock on hand. Keep stock low or stay unregistered and you'll never see one.

Selling solo is comfortable as long as you don't sit on a full batch: 10 stacks or fewer always gives you a single delivery vehicle on a 45 minute timer, worth about GTA$ 61,250 on a local sale or GTA$ 91,875 to the furthest buyer. A good rhythm is selling at around one to one and a quarter bars of stock. The missions themselves work like simpler Bunker sell missions if you need a refresher on execution.

If you own a Nightclub, it gets even more hands-off: assign a technician to Cash Creation and the club accrues counterfeit cash on its own at GTA$ 4,725 per crate (about GTA$ 9,450 an hour with upgrades), up to a GTA$ 189,000 cap. The factory only needs to be set up and open. It doesn't even need supplies, and Nightclub stock is never raided. Prefer one dashboard for everything? The Master Control Terminal in the Arcade lets you manage all of your businesses from one place.

Is The Counterfeit Cash Factory Worth It In GTA Online

Out of the five MC Club businesses, the Counterfeit Cash Factory sits right in the middle for income. On a fully upgraded sale to the furthest buyer, a full batch brings GTA$ 367,500: more than the Weed Farm (GTA$ 315,000) or Document Forgery (GTA$ 157,500), but behind the Methamphetamine Lab (GTA$ 446,250) and the Cocaine Lockup (GTA$ 525,000).

It punches above that ranking in 2026, though. With the Hands On Car Wash boost from Money Fronts, a full furthest-buyer sale reaches roughly GTA$ 496,000, overtaking the Meth Lab. And because it feeds the Nightclub's Cash Creation, it keeps earning even in weeks when you never visit the factory.

The total setup cost, including the Grand Senora Desert location and the two recommended upgrades, is GTA$ 1,998,000. Buying supplies, expect to make that back in roughly 49 hours of production; stealing supplies or running the car wash boost shortens it to somewhere around 30 to 36 hours. Or just cover it with one quick Cayo Perico Heist. Once you make that money back, the rest is pure profit.

So, is the Counterfeit Cash Factory worth it? Yes, as the third MC business you buy: pick up the Cocaine Lockup and Meth Lab first, then add the Cash Factory to round out your bulk sell sessions.

Why Is My GTA Online Counterfeit Cash Factory Not Producing?

If your Counterfeit Cash Factory stops working, here's the checklist Rockstar Support offers to get it producing product again.

Question: What should I do if my Motorcycle Club business is not producing any product?

Answer: Whether you manage the business through the Nightclub, the Master Control Terminal, or your Motorcycle Club laptop, check that all of the following are true:

  • The Set-Up Mission for the business has been completed

  • The business has supplies available

  • If you manage it from the Nightclub, a Nightclub Technician is assigned to the desired product

  • You are playing while registered as a Motorcycle Club President

Product levels should rise within 30 to 50 minutes of play once those conditions are met. (Since The Criminal Enterprises, stock also accrues while you're unregistered, but registering while you troubleshoot rules that variable out.)

If the business still won't produce, try the following steps:

  • Shut down the business.

  • Play online in a public session for more than 30 minutes.

  • Re-open the business and play as a Motorcycle Club President, making sure the conditions above are met.

Counterfeit Cash Factory FAQ

Is the Counterfeit Cash Factory worth it in 2026?

Yes, once you own the Cocaine Lockup and Methamphetamine Lab. It earns GTA$ 367,500 per upgraded furthest-buyer sale, feeds your Nightclub, and jumps to roughly GTA$ 496,000 with the Hands On Car Wash boost.

How much can I sell solo without extra vehicles?

Keep it to 10 stacks or fewer and you'll always get a single vehicle: about GTA$ 61,250 on a local sale or GTA$ 91,875 to the furthest buyer.

Can I resupply and sell in an invite-only session?

Yes. Since The Criminal Enterprises (July 2022), resupply and sell missions all work in invite-only sessions.

Do I have to stay registered as an MC President for production?

No. Product accrues while you're unregistered; you only register to buy supplies or start a sale. Staying unregistered also keeps the raid timer frozen.

How do I stop raids entirely?

Raids only trigger while you're a registered MC President with at least one bar of stock. Stay unregistered or sell before a full bar builds up, or pair the Security Upgrade with mansion militia security for full immunity.

Should I buy or steal supplies?

Buy. A full batch needs GTA$ 150,000 of supplies, and you'll earn that faster with Sightseer or Headhunter than by grinding slow steal missions.
