What's on a GTA Online Weekly Update?
New to GTA Online or back after a break? Here is what every part of the weekly update means and how to use it.
What does "Bonus GTA$ & RP" (2X / 3X) mean?
Each week Rockstar boosts the payouts on selected activities, shown as a multiplier like 2X or 3X. "2X GTA$ & RP" means you earn double the usual cash and reputation (RP) for that activity all week. Pointing your playtime at the boosted modes is the fastest way to earn while the event is live.
What is "New Content"?
Brand-new vehicles and items added to GTA Online with that week's update. If a car here is not on sale, it is usually the week's headline release, and new vehicles are often tied to the Podium, Prize Ride, or test rides.
What are Special Events?
Limited-time programs and celebrations that run alongside the normal weekly rotation, like a collector program or holiday rewards. They usually have their own end date, which can stretch past the weekly Thursday reset, and they often hand out free vehicles, clothing, or cash for logging in or completing simple goals. Check the dates on the event card so you do not miss the window.
What are Vehicle Discounts?
The week's cars and other vehicles on sale, with the percentage off the normal price. Buying a vehicle while it is discounted can save a large amount of GTA$, and the line-up changes every week, so it is worth checking before a big purchase. Each listed vehicle links to its full page.
What are Property Discounts?
The week's sales on businesses and properties (offices, nightclubs, bunkers, MC clubhouses, and so on), shown as a percentage off. Properties drive most of GTA Online's income, so a discount on one you want can save a serious amount up front. Some weeks also discount upgrades.
What are Vehicle Upgrade Discounts?
Sales on vehicle customization options such as paints, liveries, and resprays, rather than on the vehicles themselves. These apply across every eligible vehicle you already own, so a paint sale is the cheap week to finish the look on a car you have been building. A platform note shows which game versions the sale covers, so check it before planning the work.
What is the Podium Vehicle?
A free car you can win by spinning the Lucky Wheel in the lobby of the Diamond Casino & Resort. The game gives you a 1-in-20 chance to win it on each spin. You get one free spin every 24 hours, and the timer starts the moment you spin (not at a fixed daily reset), so spinning at the same time each day keeps you on schedule. The car changes weekly. You need a one-time GTA$500 casino membership to spin, and GTA+ members get a second spin each day.
What is the Prize Ride?
A free vehicle given out at the LS Car Meet. Unlike the Podium Vehicle there is no luck involved: you earn it by completing that week's Prize Ride Challenge, usually by placing well in LS Car Meet Series races across several days. Finish the challenge and the car is yours for free. The car and the challenge change weekly, so claim it before the Thursday reset.
What is the Gun Van?
A roaming black-market weapons dealer that parks at a different spot on the map each day. It sells weapons, throwables, and body armor, often at a discount and sometimes before they are available anywhere else. Its blip appears once you are nearby, and GTA+ members get a permanent map blip. The stock rotates weekly, so it is worth checking for cheap restocks and early access. See today's Gun Van location.
What is the Weekly Challenge?
A single rotating objective (for example, win a number of races or make a number of deliveries) that pays a GTA$ bonus when you complete it. Progress is tracked automatically and the cash bonus is usually paid the following week. It is easy guaranteed income, so it is worth a glance. Check your progress in the Interaction Menu.
What are FIB Priority Files?
Short mission cases run from the Darnell Bros. Garment Factory (the Agents of Sabotage business). One case is featured each week as the Priority File, and completing it while it is featured pays a bonus on top of the normal reward. If you own the factory, the featured case is the week's best-value run; if not, this section tells you what you are missing.
What are Salvage Yard Robberies?
If you own a Salvage Yard (from the Chop Shop update) you get three robbery targets each week, each a multi-step job that ends with you stealing one specific high-value car. The three cars listed on the weekly update ARE those targets, and you can pull all three in a week. Each is worth roughly GTA$250,000 to GTA$400,000.
Sell or dismantle? Selling the car whole pays the most, so do that when you can drive it to the buyer cleanly. Dismantle it for a bit less when you would risk damage or griefers, since you never have to drive it.
What is GTA+?
GTA+ is Rockstar's paid monthly membership. Each week it adds perks on top of the normal update: bonus GTA$, members-only discounts, sometimes a free vehicle or property, and conveniences like a permanent Gun Van map blip and a second daily Lucky Wheel spin. This section lists that week's member perks. It is optional; everything else on the page is free to all players.
What is an HSW Test Ride?
A free test drive of a car fitted with Hao's Special Works (HSW) upgrades, the highest performance tier in GTA Online. It works like a Premium Test Ride but shows off the extra speed an HSW build unlocks. HSW content is only on the Enhanced version of the game (PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Enhanced PC). On PS4, Xbox One, or the older PC version you will not see HSW test rides.
What are HSW Upgrades?
Hao's Special Works (HSW) upgrades are the top performance tier in GTA Online, unlocking extra speed and a second acceleration stage beyond normal tuning. This section lists the vehicles that can take new HSW upgrades that week. HSW is only on the Enhanced version (PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Enhanced PC). Use the HSW Test Ride to feel the performance before paying for the upgrade.
What are Time Trials and Premium Races?
The week's rotating competitive challenges. A Premium Race is a one-off race with a small buy-in that pays GTA$ and RP to the top three finishers, the winner taking the biggest share; start it from your phone or the pause menu. Time Trials are solo runs against a set par time anywhere on the map: beat the clock for a GTA$ and RP bonus (the full reward pays the first time you beat it each week). There are also RC Bandito Time Trials and, on the Enhanced version, HSW Time Trials. Together they are a quick, low-cost way to earn money and RP.
What is the Luxury Autos Showroom?
A car showroom on Rockford Drive with two rotating premium vehicles on display each week. You can walk in and buy either car on the spot instead of ordering it from an in-game website, and the pair changes with the weekly update. Worth a look when one of the display cars is also on sale.
What are Removed Vehicles?
Rockstar periodically rotates cars out of the in-game stores so they cannot be bought normally for a while. A removed car is not gone for good: it often returns later as a buyable vehicle, a Podium or Prize Ride, or a Premium Test Ride. So if a removed car is on your wishlist, hold tight: you cannot buy it from the in-game stores right now, but it may rotate back later.
