GTA 5 Murder Mystery Solution: All 7 Clues
The Murder Mystery is a hidden side quest for Michael only. Nothing announces it and no icon marks it, so you have to know where to look. It was added in the PS4, Xbox One and PC re-release and is not on PS3 or Xbox 360. The trail follows the death of Isaac, an actor at Fred's Pictures, and leads to the studio's founder, Fred Quincy, as his killer.
Clue 1 West Vinewood
Carved message on a wall at the Gentry Manor Hotel, east of the pool among the villas.

Carved message at the southwest corner of Los Santos City Hall.

How to solve it
Start with the four carved messages at the Gentry Manor Hotel, City Hall, the Oriental Theater and the Galileo Observatory, plus a sunken body off the west coast near Fort Zancudo. Find those five in any order. Walk up to each message and a sound confirms it. You will need a submarine or scuba gear to reach the body, a bound woman believed to be Quincy's secretary.
Once all five are found and you have finished the story mission Meltdown, Fred Quincy's letter waits on Solomon Richards' desk at Richards Majestic. His office is open only between 21:00 and 06:00. The letter says Isaac's body was hidden in a mine in the hills: that is the abandoned mine in Great Chaparral. Blow the boarded-up door open with explosives, bring a flashlight and follow the rail tracks inside to Isaac's body.
The mystery does not count toward 100% completion. Finding Isaac solves it.

This hub covers 8 collectible sets: 50 spaceship parts, 50 letter scraps, 30 nuclear waste barrels, 30 submarine pieces, 10 Epsilon tracts, 50 Monkey Mosaics, 27 peyote plants (plus 7 Golden Peyote later) and 15 For Sale signs. On top of those come 50 stunt jumps, 50 Under the Bridge routes, 15 knife flights and the Murder Mystery. Story Mode also has Hidden Packages (cash briefcases), which are not covered here.
Which collectibles count toward 100% completion in GTA 5?
All 50 spaceship parts and all 50 letter scraps count, plus 25 of the 50 stunt jumps, 25 of the 50 Under the Bridge routes and 8 of the 15 knife flights. None of the other sets on this hub count: nuclear waste, submarine pieces, Epsilon Tracts, Monkey Mosaics, peyote plants, For Sale signs and the Murder Mystery.
Which collectibles need a specific character?
Epsilon Tracts are Michael's, For Sale signs are Trevor's, and only Michael can solve the Murder Mystery. Spaceship parts open up once Franklin meets Omega, and submarine pieces once Michael meets Abigail, but after that all three characters can collect them.
How do you solve the Murder Mystery in GTA 5?
As Michael, find the four carved messages and the sunken body in any order. After the mission Meltdown, read Fred Quincy's letter in Solomon Richards' office between 21:00 and 06:00. Then blow open the mine in Great Chaparral and find Isaac's body inside.
Are GTA 5 Story Mode collectibles the same as GTA Online collectibles?
No. This hub covers Story Mode only, and GTA Online has its own separate sets. Online's peyote plants, for example, are a set of 76 that does not count toward Story Mode's Golden Peyote chain.
